Polly H. Miller

I grew up in Woodbury in the 60's and 70's a child of nature, friend to animals, and are a part of the “Last Generation in the Woods”. My love of the outdoors is what creates my “palette” I draw from. My parents were extremely talented musically and artistically; My dad “hatched/sketched” in the style of DaVinci — my mother in a cartoon form reminiscent of Edward Gorey. My love of painting was born in me at age 11. I entered the Soap Box Derby, one of the first girls to compete. When it was time to choose my chassis paint and lettering and emblem design I fell in love with “Art”. I had a couple of Art pieces submitted by teachers in Middle School, and won a scholastic award one year for my age bracket in the “impressionist” group.

My professional life was varied, I worked in manufacturing, sales and marketing, and eventually Internet Retailing. I raised a daughter, and am blessed to have married my soul mate. And now I enjoy my three grandchildren immensely. My love of the Arts and Music is one I share with them.

In 2015 a friend turned me on to creating “bottle lights” (yes, light's inside of bottles of various kinds) and from there I took back up painting. Creating. I have enjoyed moderate success since and have sold many paintings. My work is evolving. I started with whatever I could throw paint on. A garden door, or the roof of the grandkids play scape. (I was quite proud of this accomplishment, the play scape was a freebee). My art is “built” and 3-dimensional. It is intended to be “tactile” for the observer. I want you to be able to walk through my pieces. Feel their intensity. And color contains my intent. It begs your recognition. And holds my energy, and minds-eye vision.

I entered and had shown two pieces, Acrylic and Acrylic/Mixed Media at Gallery 25 in January 2022. This was my first entry and showing at a Gallery. I'm truly blessed to be a part of a great collective of like minds and hearts. My goals are to improve, learn, and give back in any way I can. I work with excellent quality canvas/frames, natural stones, glass, crystals, metals and many MANY layers of liquid acrylic paint. Each layer is dried, clear coated multiple times to maintain adhesion, vibrancy and color-steadfastness and durability.
